Clubs & Associations

The village is a thriving community with a wide variety of clubs, societies and associations, catering for lots of hobbies and interests.

We have one of the strongest Shinty Clubs in Scotland, an excellent Golf Club, a thriving Drama Group. If bowls, gardening or floral art interest you, we have clubs for them too. We also have a Gaelic Playgroup, a Curling Club, a Junior Sevens Club and a Mother & Toddler Playgroup, to name but some. Contact details are laid out below.

BADENOCH & STRATHSPEY PIPE BAND

BOWLING CLUB
Situated overlooking the golf course, the Bowling Club is open all week, has Club competitions on Wednesday and Friday evenings and competes in the District League.. Season: 1st Saturday in May to the end of September. Contact: Liz MacPhail – 01540 673021.

CROILEAGAN BHAIDEANACH – NEWTONMORE PARENT, BABY & TODDLER GROUP

FLORAL ART CLUB

GARDENING CLUB
The Badenoch Gardening Club is nearly 30 years old and is the only active gardening club in Badenoch and Strathspey.

INDOOR BOWLING CLUB

NEWTONMORE CAMANACHD CLUB
Shinty is Scotland’s indigenous sport and Newtonmore is one of the most famous clubs. The clubhouse & playing fields at the Eilan, south end of village, are home to this successful club. NEWTONMORE & BADENOCH DRAMA GROUP
Is open to anyone 16 or up. They aim to run skill sessions throughout the year, aiming to create a few shows. Pantomime is their speciality, providing Christmas cheer to Newtonmore Village Hall.

NEWTONMORE HIGHLAND GAMES COMMITTEE
Our annual traditional Highland Games are held on the Eilan, at the south end of the village, on the 1st Saturday in August. NEWTONMORE TENNIS CLUB
The club has 3 newly refurbished courts and provides complimentary racquets and balls to members and visitors. Subsidised coaching is available for both adult and junior members. NEWTONMORE WINTER LIGHTS ASSOCIATION
Newtonmore Winter Lights Association operates a 100 club to fund its activities. This includes the 90 sets of Winter Lights illuminated from November to March; a fireworks display in early November; the parade by Santa and his reindeer; and the Hogmanay torchlight procession and fireworks display.

VILLAGE HALL
The Village Hall has two sections in the same building – the Main Hall and, to the rear, the Lesser Hall. The hall is host to many activities and provides lets for indoor bowling, playgroup, drama group, dances, sales of work and many other events.
