SWIMMING

There would be some, who have been unfortunate enough to experience a rainy day who might suggest that the Main Street is the place to swim! Newtonmore, however, has only very limited swimming facilities...

Although locals swim in some of the pools of the River Calder in Glen Banchor, this really isn't recommended unless you're very hardy, and very experienced. There is, however, one hotel - The Balavil Sport Hotel, that has an excellent small pool.

The Hotel operate the 'Splash Club' which you can join to use the facilities, and also offer 'Swim Lunches' - not a soggy sandwich, but an excellent meal and the chance to go for a swim as well, at a reasonable price.

Apart from this, if you're looking for something more interesting than shopping to do when in the Highland capital of Inverness, the facilities at the Bught Park are superb, including waterslides and a big pool.
