Squirrel Project

As part of our aim to help the endangered red squirrel survive here in Newtonmore we are undertaking a survey  and need your help.

Visitor_081010We wish to record sightings of squirrels both alive & dead in Newtonmore, especially if killed on a road, so we can get a better picture of their numbers, habits and possible problems they may encounter here.

The details required are:

  • Date & time of sighting
  • Where sighted
  • Colour of tail

Squirrel_5_051008Sightings should be reported to:  Judith Houghton, Community Councillor

Squirrel_tail_up_051008We hope to be installing a trial rope bridge in the village within the next few months to see if the squirrels use it and if it does aid their crossing of our main road. More details will be advertised nearer the time of installation.

Let's keep our native red squirrel thriving in this area.
