Clubs & Associations

The village is a thriving community with a wide variety of clubs, societies and associations, catering for lots of hobbies and interests.

We have one of the strongest Shinty Clubs in Scotland, an excellent Golf Club, a thriving Drama Group and, Brownies. If bowls, gardening or floral art interest you, we have clubs for them too. We also have a Gaelic Playgroup, a Curling Club, a Junior Sevens Club and a Mother & Toddler Playgroup, to name but some. Contact details are laid out below.

BADMINTON CLUB. Meets in the Primary School on Wednesdays, from October to April during school term times. 7.00 to 8.00pm, up to S1. 8.00 to 9.00pm, S2 and seniors. Contact: Andy Courts - 01540 670049.

BOWLING CLUB. Situated overlooking the golf course, the Bowling Club is open all week, has Club competitions on Wednesday and Friday evenings and competes in the District League.. Season: 1st Saturday in May to the end of September. Contact: Liz MacPhail - 01540 673021.

BRITISH LEGION. Open to all ex-service personnel and 1st generation families. There are social meetings throughout the year and the Legion organises the Annual Remembrance Day Service in the village. Contact: Robin Cattanach, tel no. 01540 673640.

BROWNIES. Meet Thursdays 6.00 to 7.30 pm in St Brides Church Hall. Contact: Glenda Leslie - 01540 673819.

CAMANACHD CLUB. (Shinty). The clubhouse & playing fields at the Eilan are home to his famous and successful club. Two teams play in the National Leagues and 3 other teams cater for all ages from primary school upwards. Contact: Ian Gibson - 01540 673048. Read more.

NEWTONMORE PARENT, BABY & TODDLER GROUP (CROILEAGAN BHAIDEANACH). A playgroup which encourages the use of the Gaelic language. Meets in the Primary School in the mornings during term time. DRAMA GROUP. Ages 8 and over are welcome. Meet in the Village Hall on Mondays from February to December. 6.00pm for children, 7.00pm for adults. Contact: Angela Cox - 01540 673817.

FLORAL ART CLUB. Meets in the Lesser Village Hall at 7.30pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from March to November. Contact: Mandy Mullender - 01540 673211.

NEWTONMORE HIGHLAND GAMES COMMITTEE. Our annual traditional Highland Games are held on the Eilan, at the south end of the village, on the 1st Saturday in August. The Games coincide with the Clan MacPherson Rally and another special feature is the Hill Race up Craigdhu. VILLAGE HALL. The Village Hall has two sections in the same building - the Main Hall and, to the rear, the Lesser Hall.The hall is host to many activities and provides lets for indoor bowling, playgroup, drama group, dances, sales of work and many other events.
