Newtonmore and Vicinity Community Council

The Community Council is a statutory body formed to care for, and improve, the environment of Newtonmore and vicinity, to enter into discussion and negotiation with the Highland Council and other bodies on local issues and to try to assist with any problems raised by inhabitants of the area. Membership of the Council is by election or co-option.

The council is able to have up to twelve members at any one time - if you live permanently in the village and would like to help with community interests, come to one of the meetings, which are always open and held on the first Monday in every month except August and January in the village hall at 7.30pm, or let any member know of your interest.

Some time ago, Moray, Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise conducted a 'community plan' consultation in the village - although choosing to do so without any consultation with the community council whatsoever - the community council have, however, taken the plan on board, and amended it as time has passed. MBSE, on the other hand, have now completely lost interest in any community involvement, begging the question of what on earth they thought they were doing in the first place.
