Craeg_Dubh_CragsOur location in the middle of the village means that all the local facilities are conveniently close to hand for you.

The Post Office is some 50 yards away, the Co-op 200 yards (open 0800-2200) and there are 3 good pubs within 400 yards. We also have a petrol station with Spar Mini-market, a crafts/gifts shop plus 3 cafes, some of which do a take-away service, are all close by. An excellent mobile Fish & Chip van is in the village every Wednesday evening too.

There's so much to do in the area, details of which are listed throughout this website. In brief though:

For Cyclists - We're on the Sustrans A9 route, with excellent local mountain biking. Downhill mountain biking at Wolfrax (Laggan) is only 12 miles away. We have a covered, secure bike shed too.

For Walkers & Climbers - There are Munros in every direction and we're more than happy to offer advice on conditions and access when you're here. There's excellent local rock climbing on Creag Dubh and Kingussie crags and Winter Climbing at all ability levels in the Cairngorms and at Creag Meagaidh. Newtonmore is central for all walking in Scotland, including the local 'Wildcat Trail'.

For skiers - Cairngorm is 23 miles, Aonach Mor 44 miles, with brilliant touring terrain on the doorstep.

Canoeing & Kayaking - Paddling rivers close by include The Truim, Avon, Spey, Roy, Spean and Calder, or more sedately on Lochs Insh and Morlich, where instruction is available for beginners.

Sailing - nearby Loch Insh provides excellent sailing and instruction is available for both beginners and advanced levels.

For Birdwatchers - there's the RSPB reserve locally on the Insh Marshes, plus the famous Osprey reserve at Loch Garten.

Anyone for tennis? - Newtonmore has 3 all weather courts 150 yards away.

Fancy a round? - It is just 150 yards to the first tee of Newtonmore Golf Course - par 68, 18 holes. There's also Kingussie Golf Course - 3 miles.

waltzing_watersFishing - try fishing at Loch Insh (Salmon and Trout), Lochan Uvie (Pike) or the River Spey (Salmon and Trout).
